Holi in Togo: Colors, Connections & Commitment: A Fantastic Friday, 14th March, 2025
This morning, as I stepped out of my home, a song naturally found its way to my lips:
"होली के दिन दिल खिल जाते हैं, रंगों में रंग मिल जाते हैं।
गिले शिकवे भूल कर दोस्तों, दुश्मन भी गले लग जाते हैं।"
"On Holi, hearts bloom with delight,
Colors blend, so vibrant and bright.
With love, we let old grudges sway,
Even foes embrace this day!" 🌸🎨💖
I didn’t just sing—I recorded myself walking through the streets of Togo, capturing the moment as it happened. Some kids nearby noticed me. At first, they just stared. Then they smiled. And in that instant, the video transformed from just a clip into something real and alive—pure, natural joy.
Breakfast, But Just on Sundays
Breakfast with Ghanshyam Jee. Always a pleasure. But not an everyday thing. We decided—just once a week. Sunday is the day. 😆
Morning Talk: The Machine We Live In
Today’s talk was simple, yet deeply personal.
"We grow older—day by day, week by week, year by year. Whether we like it or not. Whether we want it or not."
So how do we make sure we age well?
"When I grow old, I only pray for one thing—good health. Nothing else. Agree?"
Heads nodded.
Then I introduced something new: CLTI.
"Our body is also a machine. So, just like any machine, what do we do to maintain it?"
C for? I asked. Someone hesitantly replied, Cleaning?
"Yes! But louder, everyone—C for?"
"CLEANING!" came the chorus.
Then we continued:
- L for? Lubrication.
- T for? Tightening.
- I for? Inspection.
Simple. Fun. Easy to remember. And important.
Then I asked, "What is Holi? What do the colors represent?" It wasn’t just a festival—it was a celebration of life, of unity, of fresh starts.
And right after my talk, our senior team member, Safety Officer Mr. Yendabre, had an idea.
"Why not celebrate such festivals in the plant too?"
Why not indeed? We will.
DPM: Strategy for the Plant
A big decision was made today—I declared that we would focus on Line#2. It has more potential, and we need to maximize it.
- Line#1: No major job in Kiln, Cooler, or Cyclone#1. It will only be kept ready for emergency operation.
- Cyclone#2 and above, including Raw-mill and Coal-mill: To be made fully operational with priority to Line#2.
Another key point—manpower utilization. Every HOD has to submit a complete list of their employees and contractual workers, including their work areas. The idea is to review, optimize, and properly assign responsibilities.
Meeting with PDG Sir
Our Chairman, whom we call PDG Sir (President & Director General), was in the plant today.
I had a short but meaningful meeting with him. We’re on the same page when it comes to plant operations.
On the wall outside his office, a framed quote of his stands as a reminder:
"If castles were not built in the air, there would not have been any on the ground."
True vision always starts as a dream.
