Respecting Time, Building Discipline, and Moving Forward: Diary Entry: Thursday, 6th March 2025
This morning’s session started with prayer, attended by around 35 workmen.
By the time it ended, the count had grown to 67, including me.
I pointed this out to them, saying, “This happened in just five minutes. If we start a little earlier, we will always be on time.”
I then shared a simple yet important message:
"When we respect time, time will take care of us."
I explained further:
"At times, we wonder why unexpected or unfortunate events happen to us at odd times. The truth is, many of these situations occur because we fail to respect time. If we cultivate the habit of doing things in a timely manner, we will see that everything in our lives also aligns at the right time."
To reinforce this, I asked them if they could come on time tomorrow. They agreed, and we all clapped in unison.
Then, I posed another challenge: Could each of them bring one more person with them tomorrow? Again, they agreed, and we clapped once more.
Final Preparations for the Regional Governor’s Visit
Following the morning talk, we had a final discussion regarding today’s visit by the Regional Governor.
Though the official visit time was set for 10:30 AM, they did not arrive until 12:50 PM—a significant delay. Nevertheless, we welcomed them warmly and escorted them to the Conference Hall.
After brief welcome speeches by Mr. Kuwonu and myself, our team delivered a structured presentation covering the requested points.
The Governor provided three key suggestions:
- Increase tree plantation efforts by involving local communities. The Togo government has set an ambitious target of planting 1 billion trees.
- Accommodate more trainees to support skill development in the region.
- Assess and submit data on limestone deposits for a clearer understanding of long-term resource availability.
Key Discussions of the Day
- Meeting with Mr. BVK Raju: Discussed the landowners' payment issue. He has now sent the details to the Director General for further action.
- Mechanical Team Discussion: We assessed the current status of the plant.
- The shutdown has been extended due to clinker dispatch conditions.
- One line can now be started, but the decision depends on logistical factors.
- Line #2 is our preference, but we are still awaiting filter bags for the main baghouse.
- The plan is to make both lines ready by this week and take a final call by Monday.
Final Thoughts
The day was long and eventful, with valuable lessons on time management, leadership, and decision-making. The Governor’s visit, despite delays, was constructive, with actionable takeaways for sustainability and growth.
Tomorrow, I look forward to seeing if our morning prayer gathering grows further—one step at a time, we are building a more disciplined and motivated workforce.
Beautiful, thinking of a perfect leader. Involvement of people is the key of success. At L&T Hirmi every one punched their attendance card 5 minutes before during our time , a disciplined habits
