Monday’s Actions, Reflections & Learnings: Plant diary - 3rd March, 2025

This morning, I started with our daily talk, thanking everyone for joining. While appreciating their presence, I humbly reminded them of the importance of being on time. Discipline in time management is crucial—not just for maintaining workflow but also as a sign of professionalism and mutual respect.

Defining Responsibilities – A Structured Approach

I had a discussion with the Admin team regarding proper housekeeping. One of the key challenges I observed was unclear roles and responsibilities, leading to inefficiencies. Without accountability, tasks remain incomplete or are neglected.

To address this:
Roles will be clearly defined.
Responsibilities will be fixed for each person.
A checklist will be created and shared to ensure proper execution.

This structured approach will be extended to all departments. I have asked HODs to compile a list of employees and workmen, along with their reporting managers. Once this structure is in place, every reportee will:

  • Define their Job Description (JD)
  • List their key roles and responsibilities
  • Create a checklist for their subordinates

๐Ÿ’ก Why is this necessary?
๐Ÿ”น It ensures clarity—everyone knows their role.
๐Ÿ”น It enhances accountability—people own their tasks.
๐Ÿ”น It improves efficiency—things get done the right way, on time.

This systematic approach will bring better discipline, ownership, and overall productivity. But I am still considering, how can we make this process even more effective? What additional steps can ensure its success?

Reflections – Observing the Hidden Messages

Today, I updated my Facebook cover photo with a reflection image from the plant. I have always loved capturing reflections, and the rainy season provides even more opportunities for such shots. Reflections are more than just images; they carry deep meaning.

๐Ÿ’ญ Thought for the day:
"You must observe reflections—especially those that come from within. They guide you. They show the right path."

I believe in writing down my thoughts. I maintain both a physical and digital diary—a habit that allows me to process experiences, recognize patterns, and gain clarity.

Approval Request – 4500MT Laterite for Mines Road Development

I received an approval request for 4500MT of laterite material for mines road development.

๐Ÿ“Œ Estimated cost: $3 per MT (excluding additional expenses).
๐Ÿ“Œ Total cost: A significant amount.

However, delaying this work isn’t an option. If not completed before the monsoon, the road conditions will deteriorate, and mining equipment may not be able to operate efficiently. I confirmed the requirement, ensuring that work proceeds without delay.

Mines Visit – A Refreshing Evening by the Lake

I visited the mines area today, and as always, I enjoyed being there. The lake near the mines is one of my favorite spots, especially during sunset.

After a long time, I got a chance to be there again. The water level has risen due to last month’s rainfall, adding to its beauty. It was a moment of peace amidst a hectic schedule.

Crusher Visit – Identifying an Inefficiency

During my crusher visit, I noticed a major operational inefficiency:

๐Ÿš› Current practice:

  • Surface material already undersized is being transported from the mines to the crusher (opposite direction).
  • It is then unnecessarily fed into the hopper and passed through primary and secondary crushing.
  • This process wastes time, energy, and resources.

๐Ÿ’ก Key question: How can we optimize this?
Should we:
๐Ÿ”น Screen the material at the mines itself?
๐Ÿ”น Divert it directly to the intended location instead of sending it to the crusher?

This needs an immediate technical discussion with the team. Eliminating unnecessary steps will save energy, reduce equipment wear, and cut operational costs.

Personal Task – Setting Up My New Phone

I need to make my new Phone fully functional. It's now 10 days since my senior colleague brought it from USA. Setting up an Apple account is still pending, and I’ll get that done today. A small but essential task.

Closing Thoughts

Today was a mix of systematic planning, hands-on problem-solving, and personal reflection.

๐Ÿ”น Structured delegation will improve efficiency.
๐Ÿ”น Nature’s reflections inspire deep thoughts.
๐Ÿ”น Identifying inefficiencies in operations is key to reducing waste.
๐Ÿ”น Small but necessary tasks (like setting up my phone) also need attention.

Each day brings new challenges, new learnings, and new opportunities—the key is to observe, reflect, and act accordingly.
