Today is International Women’s Day: 8th March 2025

This morning, I sang my favorite prayer—loud, clear, and full of devotion. It’s a rare chance, but when I do, I feel truly alive.

Morning Talk

A few days ago, we spoke about the power of breathing. Yesterday, we discussed tree plantation. What is the connection? Everyone knows.

In Hindi, we call Oxygen "Prana Vayu"—the gas of life. No oxygen, no life. Trees give us oxygen.

The government of Togo has set an ambitious goal: one billion trees in five years. If the population is around 10 million, that’s 100 trees per person—20 trees per year. But planting is not enough. Trees, like humans, need care when they are young.

So, when we talk about planting trees, let’s also make a promise: We won’t cut trees unnecessarily; we will protect them.

Corporate Communication & Benchmarking

Our company operates multiple cement plants in different countries. We need a corporate communication policy to ensure seamless information flow.

A structured benchmarking system is required. Each plant must identify its current bottlenecks, work on de-bottlenecking, and then move to the next issue. Step by step, we can improve.

Vocational Trainees – Final Week Discussion

The vocational trainees joined today’s Daily Production Meeting (DPM). This marks their final week. Over the past three months, I tracked their progress, but I see gaps. There’s a lot more to be done.

Moving forward, we need a structured training plan to ensure that these young engineers leave not just with knowledge but with the right mindset. They will represent us when they step into the professional world—what kind of representation do we want? We must shape it from Day 1.

Revised 3-Month Vocational Training Plan

Month 1: Foundation Training

  • Understanding industry basics: What is an industry? How does it function?
  • Introduction to the cement industry: Overview, processes, key functions.
  • Safety training—the highest priority.
  • Company policies and workplace ethics.

Month 2: Trade-Specific Training

  • First Half: On-field presence, shadowing experts.
  • Second Half: Classroom sessions with structured training material.

Month 3: Practical Implementation

  • Hands-on work in the field, assigned to different experts daily.
  • Daily progress tracking with regular feedback.
  • Final assessment: Evaluating knowledge, practical skills, and attitude.

The goal is not just technical expertise but also discipline, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.

International Women's Day Reflection

Today is International Women’s Day. A moment to reflect: In an industry dominated by men, how many women do we have in our workforce?

One of our vocational trainees is a young woman. She may be the only one today, but she represents the future. Industries need more women, not just for diversity but for better thinking, better decision-making, and a better balance.

Let’s ensure that every woman in our industry gets equal opportunities, respect, and the right environment to grow.

A day filled with progress, reflection, and responsibility—towards our people, our environment, and the future of this industry.
