The War Within & The Light Outside | Diary Entry - 10th May, 2025

Last night was almost unbearable. A sharp, throbbing toothache kept me awake through the midnight hours. I tossed and turned, unable to rest, but deep down I knew that today wasn’t a day to skip duty. Some days demand your presence no matter the discomfort --- and today was one such day.

And as if to compensate, the morning meeting brought a surprising amount of energy and upliftment. A different team member led the prayer today, one who speaks with the enthusiasm and style of a charismatic orator --- like he's not praying, but delivering a charged speech. I used to find his style strange, even theatrical. But now, having seen his consistency, I find a certain rhythm in it. There's something honest in his voice that cuts through.

Mr. Edoh followed, translating the core message for everyone. His main point --- clear, heartfelt, and timely --- was that we should all pray for a world without war.

When it was my turn to speak, I tried to extend that line of thought.
I asked: “When does a war happen? Why does it start?”
The answers are always about one party harming the other, feeling wronged, and retaliating. But I urged them to look beyond global conflicts --- towards a more personal battlefield.
The eternal war we all fight silently - the one inside us.
The one between our better selves and our bad habits.
Our laziness. Our anger. Our ego.
These enemies live closer than we think. They harm us quietly and continuously.
So let’s not only condemn war between nations - let’s fight and win the war within ourselves, every day.

The atmosphere shifted. Not solemn, but thoughtful.

Mr. Yendabre then gave a hands-on demo about what to do when someone is injured from electrical shock and collapses. It was long, but well done, and many of us captured parts of it on video. Safety isn’t a rulebook here - it’s an urgent reality.

Later in the morning, I went on a plant walk.
I didn’t just walk - I recorded videos while moving through various parts of the premises.
Across the grassy Main Assembly walkway... through the duct pieces lying around... navigating the cluster of parked bikes... weaving through the greenbelt’s trees.
The video didn’t need narration.
The silent message was clear: Keep moving. No matter the blocks, no matter the clutter, keep walking forward.

There was no DPM today. Everyone was occupied with plant operations --- Line#1 had to be restarted and Line#2 had to keep running without a glitch. Priorities were set.

And then... a moment of joy.

At 5:30 PM, Kiln #1 came alive again.
I was there. Pocket full of toffees.
Like a child on Diwali night.
I offered the toffees to everyone around --- “Happy Lightup!” I said, grinning.
They smiled back, surprised, amused, but I know they felt the warmth.
We need these light moments in the midst of heavy routines.

The heat and humidity were unforgiving, but somehow, the spirit of the evening dulled their edge. A kiln lighting up may seem routine on paper, but it’s a pulse returning to the heart of the plant.
