Celebrating Mass Communication Day at WACEM: Wednesday, 5th March 2025
Today, we celebrated Mass Communication Day at WACEM with great enthusiasm and participation. With both plants being closed, the maximum number of employees were present, making it the perfect opportunity for engagement.
Adding to the excitement, the Employee of the Month had already been selected yesterday, setting a positive tone for the day.
The energy at our main assembly point was electrifying—this time, the participation and enthusiasm were at an all-time high. I took the opportunity to capture the moment with lots of photos, selfies, and videos, preserving these memories for everyone.
My Message to the Team
In my short speech, I summarized the long speech of our Safety Officer Mr. Yendabre in a simple but powerful mantra:
“BE BETTER – STAY SAFER – LIVE LONGER.”
Safety remained at the core of my address. I repeated the five cardinal rules of safety, ensuring they were embedded in everyone’s mindset. To make the message stick, I ended with a simple yet impactful phrase:
"ABCD – Always Be Careful, Dear Friends."
This resonated deeply with the team, reinforcing our collective responsibility toward safety.
A Moment of Connection – The Real Icebreaker
Once the program concluded, something special happened—employees started coming forward to take selfies with me.
I had always known this moment would arrive someday. It wasn’t just about pictures—it was a sign of growing trust, connection, and team spirit. This was the real ice-breaking moment, a breakthrough in bonding with the workforce.
Plant Readiness & Maintenance Progress:
On the operational front:
- Line #1: The remaining work is completed, and we are now ready to light up the plant in the next day or two, depending on clinker dispatch.
- Line #2: The cooler work is fully completed, and final maintenance is underway to bring it back to operation soon.
Upcoming Event:
This morning, we received a telephone call from Mr. the Prefect of Yoto, informing us of an important visit:
- The Regional Governor will visit our factory on Thursday, 6th March 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
- As per the directive, we must prepare a short 30-minute presentation covering:
- Our production activities
- Social responsibility initiatives over the last five years
- Future development plans for the coming years
This visit holds significance as the Regional Governor is a newly established institution in the republic. We are making necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and impactful presentation.
Weather Conditions:
Today has been an extremely hot and humid day, making the work environment quite challenging. However, the spirit of the team remained high, ensuring that productivity and enthusiasm were not dampened.
Final Thoughts:
The success of Mass Communication Day has strengthened my belief in the power of engagement and communication. The eagerness of employees to interact, take selfies, and participate actively is a sign of growing trust and motivation. The true ice-breaking has begun, paving the way for a more united and driven workforce.
Tomorrow brings another important occasion, with the Regional Governor’s visit. We will ensure that WACEM is presented in the best possible light, showcasing not only our industrial strength but also our commitment to social responsibility and future growth.
