Reflection, Persistence & Urgent Actions: Plant Diary – February 22, 2025
Morning Talk – The Importance of Time & Progress
As two months of 2025 are nearing completion, I started the day with an important reflection—what have we achieved in these two months?
Each day is crucial, and if we are not progressing, we are falling behind.
After reinforcing this message, I once again requested everyone to:
✔ Share their observations
✔ Report any unsafe acts
✔ Highlight any unsafe conditions
Despite my repeated requests, only the usual person spoke up, while the rest remained silent. Some may wonder why I keep insisting, even when responses are minimal. But there is a deeper logic—the habit of observation and reporting does not develop overnight. It requires consistent reinforcement until awareness becomes second nature.
Structural Survey – Critical RCC Column Damage
After the morning session, Mr. BVK Raju, our draftsman, and I conducted a detailed survey of the plant’s structural condition.
🔍 Key Observations:
📌 Several RCC columns are deteriorating—cracks, spalling, and visible reinforcement.
📌 Damage is prominent in CCR Building, Cooler, Kiln, Preheater, and the Raw-mill Area.
📌 Many columns are damaged at the base, with reinforcement exposed—this is critical and needs urgent attention.
📸 I took photographs of all the affected areas for documentation and immediate planning. We cannot afford to delay action on this.
Safety Hazard – No Sirens in the Plant
🚨 A major concern—there are no sirens installed anywhere in the plant.
🚨 Starting large conveyors without a warning siren is extremely dangerous.
🚨 Immediate installation of sirens is non-negotiable.
Safety should never be compromised, and this issue must be addressed immediately.
Daily Performance & Financial Clarity
✔ DPM remained normal, which is a positive sign.
✔ Addressed a long-pending old bill issue from the Limestone Mines. Financial matters should never remain unresolved, as pending issues only get more complicated with time. It is better to clear them at the earliest.
Final Thoughts
📌 Persistence in safety awareness is essential, even when responses are minimal.
📌 Structural damage to RCC columns is critical and requires immediate intervention.
📌 Safety alarms must be installed to prevent hazardous incidents.
📌 Financial clarity prevents unnecessary complications.
Every day is an opportunity to improve. Time will pass, but what we do with it will define our progress.
